Online Dating Advice for Women Part 2

This is the second part of our ‘Online Dating Advice” series. Last time we talked about safety, profile pictures and honesty. Today we’ll talk about your email address, courtesy, and length of your profile.

4. You already know that you shouldn’t list your home address and your phone on your profile. The same goes to your regular email address. Why? Because if you create a new one, it will be harder for anyone to trace you with your email. Hackers can read messages from and to your friends and may get information which you would rather keep private.

5. Don’t forget about online dating etiquette. Don’t ask questions which are too personal in your first emails and always be polite. If in the process of corresponding with someone you realize that this person is definitely not for you, tell them about it. Don’t be rude to them and don’t start ignoring them like your conversations never existed. Tell them politely that you either found someone else, or that you were not interested in continuing your friendship. Don’t forget to wish them luck in their search as well.

6. Pay attention to the length of your profile. Certain sites may have different word limits, but even if the word limit is 1000 words, it doesn’t matter that you have to write a long essay about yourself. A profile which is too long is a turn-off for many people, so try to keep it short. Include only the most important things about you and list what you are looking for in your partner. Be concise and straight to the point. By doing this you will save yourself and the other people lots of time.

7. Most importantly – be yourself. Don’t copy anyone’s info and don’t try to pretend that you are someone you are not. Be yourself and I guarantee you that there is a perfect person who is looking for someone just like you.
