Romantic Date Ideas on a Budget

With the economy being in a dismal state people are too busy worrying about mortgages, money and jobs, and romance often becomes the last thing they think about. This is not the best idea, because if you neglect your partner, you may loose him or her in addition to your job.

Romantic dates don’t have to be expensive. There are plenty of romantic date ideas on a budget. Besides, spending nice quality time with your partner may take your mind off the unpleasant things and benefit not only your relationship, but your overall well-being as well.

Romantic Idea Nr. 1.
If you are completely broke, I suggest you go for a walk. Going out on a date doesn’t have to mean going out to eat at a restaurant or going to a bar to get drunk together. Actually, I never liked dates which involved food or movies, because then instead of paying attention to each other you stare at a movie screen, or are concentrating on cutting your medium rare steak. Go for a walk, sit on a bench, hold each other’s hands, snuggle. Ask each other personal questions. Instead of “how do you like your steak’, or “what did you think about the movie?” ask, for example, what is your partner’s favorite childhood memory. If you have been together for awhile, remember the first time you met, or your first date. It may sound banal, but so many people neglect doing it. Many people in this culture are uncomfortable doing it. They have a hard time slowing down and they often feel like they are wasting time if the just walk or sit without doing anything else. Don’t be one of them. You are not “wasting” your time. You are investing in your relationship or marriage, which is the best investment you can make.

Romantic Idea Nr. 2. Don’t get me wrong. Going out to eat is not a bad thing. Juts make sure you are not only discussing your meal and your waiter when you go out. If you are – it is not a date.

Going out to eat ca be expensive these days, so I suggest that instead of going out for diner, go out for lunch or even breakfast. If you are not married and/or not living together meet your loved one at a restaurant. I think it is wonderful to start your day with someone you love. Even if you are on different schedules, you can make it happen.

If you go out for lunch, you can always split a portion. These days portions at restaurants are humongous, so one is often enough for two.

Romantic Idea Nr. 3.
Movies can also count as a good cheap romantic date idea, as far as you spend some quality time after of before them. If you want to surprise your partner and show him/her your love and devotion, get tickets for something that he or she loves. If you are a guy and hate cheesy girl movies, get tickets for the cheesiest movie and watch them with your girl (assuming the fact that she actually likes cheesy movies, of course). Try not to sigh or roll your eyes throughout the movie, or you will spoil everything.
