Romantic Gift Ideas for Procrastinators
If you are a procrastinator and are looking for romantic gift ideas the night before the holiday or the event, here are some tips for you.
Romantic gift idea #1: Framed Photo or a Child’s Drawing.
If you have kids older than 2, who are somewhat capable of drawing, they may you’re your butt if you forgot to think of a gift earlier. Ask your child to make a drawing for mommy/daddy; run to 24 hour CVS or to a dollar store, were you can get one for a buck (if it is not too late) and get a picture frame. I have yet to meet a parent who will not love such gift. If you don’t think it is romantic enough, write a poem (fins something online) that goes along with it. For example, if you child made a rose, write Shakespeare’s “Oh my love is like a red red rose…” sonnet on the drawing.
If you don’t have children and are anything but the artist, find a photo of the two of you together, frame it and write something romantic on it (or on the frame). Framed photo may be corny, but photo with a romantic poem is special and personal. If you can’t write, search the internet for love poems. Just please don’t lie that you wrote it.
Romantic gift idea #2: Magazine Subscription
OK, this may not be one of the most romantic gift ideas, although it all depends on how you present it, but it is a life savior you if you remembered about the gift the day of the event.
You can order a magazine subscription online within minutes. If you are on a budget, search Google for discount magazine subscriptions and you can find many of them for under $10.
If you are buying a gift for a woman, get her a fashion magazine or a silly girly magazine if she is into them. If she is a dancer, get her a subscription to, for example, Dance Spirit magazine. Such gift is very thoughtful, because you will not only show your partner that you know her/his hobbies and support them, but it will remind him/her of your love every time they get a magazine in the mail.
If you are buying a subscription for your wife, consider getting a cooking magazine subscription, which will benefit both of you. May not be romantic, but very practical.
Romantic Gift Idea # 3: Get an Electronic Gift Card
This gift saved my husband’s butt many times, and even though every time I got a gift card I knew that I got it only because he forgot to get a gift in time, it still made me happy. Most women love to shop, and a gift car, which is more personable than cash, gives them the opportunity to shop without guilt. If you know which stores your partner is interested in, you may buy gift cards directly from them. If you don’t, I recommend Amazon.com Gift Card, because you can buy pretty much anything on the site and many things are pretty cheap.
If you want to make it look more thoughtful, say something like, “Honey, you are much smarter than me, so I thought it would be a good idea if you picked a gift for yourself. I know that you will spend the money wiser”.
Romantic Gift Idea # 4: Get a Gift Certificate from Restaurant.com
Restaurant.com has some fantastic deals on gift certificates. You can get $25 gift certificates for $10-15. Enter your zip code and see which restaurants near you participate in promotions. Pick the one your loved one might like. There is a good chance, that you will enjoy this certificate together. To make your deal even better, use Big Crumbs to get 13.5% money back on your purchase.
I used to be mad at my husband for procrastinating, because I always have gifts prepared 3 weeks ahead of time. Now I realize that his procrastination is just who he is and if he keeps giving me child’s drawings and Amazon gift cards for the rest of my life, I will still be happiest women on Earth.
