Stop a Divorce Before it Is Too Late

Statistically, 50% of first marriages and about 70% of second ones end in divorce. The statistics is pretty frightening, but there are ways to stop a divorce even if your marriage seems hopeless.

With the right steps, determination and a basic understanding, it is possible to save your marriage and stop a divorce.

First, you have to ask yourself some crucial questions.

- Are the matters which are causing your marital problems important enough to warrant the attention they are getting?

- Is it possible to change something or make different by prevailing in your arguments?

- Are the issues really worth arguing about in the first place?

If you answered no to these questions, stop pressing the matter and let it slide. Many divorces can be prevented if a large argument or arguments are settled.

The next step to learning how to stop a divorce is to stop being so hard on yourself and stop worrying about how you are being perceived. Try to be yourself and let your behavior flow. This way, people (including your spouse) perceive you for who you actually are, rather than who you are trying to be.

If your situation seems really hopeless try distancing yourself from your partner, at least for a short while. Mentally and emotionally distancing yourself from them will help you become calmer and more relaxed, which eventually will make your head clear. A little bit of distance never hurt anyone. It’s important to stay in contact and maintain positive conversation and communication, but if you want to be able to communicate with your spouse effectively, you need to try and take the emotions out of the situation.

Once your heads are clear, you can start analyzing your situation. When you and your spouse are no longer feeling so hot headed about the issues that are leading you to divorce, you can sit down and try to communicate through a solution.

Most breakups can be easily undone if both partners can find the patience and civility to talk things through. It seems simple, but many people are not able to control their emotions and every attempt to communicate ends in fights. Calming yourself down should be your primary goal at this point.

These are just the beginning steps in how to stop a divorce and be happy again. These aren’t my original ideas. T ‘Dub’ Jackson, the author of famous book  “The Magic of Making Up” created a simple, down to earth step by step plan which really works. You will be impressed how good his book is.
