Wedding Anniversary Traditional Gifts Part 1
6th wedding anniversary: candy.
As you have probably already guessed, candy symbolizes sweetness of the relationship. Looks like this gift you can get pretty cheap.
According to other sources, the appropriate gift for 6th wedding anniversary is iron, which represents the sturdiness of the relationship.
I personally prefer candy.
7th wedding anniversary: wool/copper.
The traditional symbols of the 7th wedding anniversary are wool and copper. Wool is a symbol of cope and renewal. Copper symbolizes strong bond, which is difficult to break, but also reminds that the relationship may still be flexible like copper.
Unless you live in Florida, get a nice lambs wool sweater or scarf. If you are in Florida, go for copper jewelry instead.
8th wedding anniversary: bronze/pottery.
Bronze symbolizes voice and sound. By this time the couple has hopefully developed their communication skills to speak honestly and sincerely to each other.
You may get bronze jewelry or small bronze sculpture.
9th wedding anniversary: willow/pottery.
The traditional gifts for 9th wedding anniversary are made of willow or pottery. The clay symbolizes the flesh while the water symbolizes the soul. Willow symbolizes romance and strength.
Gift ideas include a painting with willow tree on it, willow-tree baskets, or if you are feeling creative and have a backyard, plant a willow tree there. Or get clay or ceramic vases, dishes and so on.
10th wedding anniversary: tin/aluminum.
Tin and aluminum are both symbols of how a successful marriage needs to be flexible and durable and how it can be bent without being broken.
You may get some collectible tinplated toys or pewter figurines as a gift.
11th wedding anniversary: steel.
Steel represents the strength of your marriage.
Stainless Steel knifes, jewelry or other kitchenware may be given as gifts.
12th wedding anniversary: silk.
Silk represents both strength and softness.
Gift ideas include silk scarves, sheets, pajamas or silk clothing.
13th wedding anniversary: lace.
Lace is the symbol of interweaved fabric that imparts a greater dimension to the 13 years of marriage. According to other sources, the beauty of lace lies in the open spaces between the knots… just as the beauty of marriage lies in the space between your time apart and time together.
Appropriate gifts would be lace lingerie for women, or lace tablecloths.
14th wedding anniversary: agate.
Agate is a symbol of luck and protection. It also represents the preciousness of differing opinions and perspectives.
Perfect 14th wedding anniversary gift would be agate jewelry.
15th wedding anniversary: crystal.
Crystal is a symbol of harmony, clarity and transparency.
Gift ideas include crystal dishes, vases or crystal jewelry.
